Guidance based on NHS Inform Scotland standards for dental care.
To register, contact us here to check if we are currently accepting new NHS patients. You will need to provide your details and attend an initial clinical examination. According to NHS Inform, once registered, you stay on our list unless you move, change dentists, or are removed for specific reasons (such as missing appointments).
NHS dental examinations (check-ups) are free for everyone in Scotland. For treatment, patients pay 80% of the cost, which is capped at a maximum of £384 per course of treatment. We will always provide a written treatment plan and cost estimate before your care begins.
Treatment is completely free if you are:
During opening hours, please call the practice immediately for triage. For out-of-hours emergencies (evenings and weekends), phone NHS 24 on 111. They provide assessment and can refer you to the local urgent dental center if required.
Under Scottish Government dental reform, your dentist will determine your recall frequency based on your individual clinical need. This can range from every 6 months to 24 months, ensuring care is focused on those who need it most.
The Patient Rights Act emphasizes the responsibility of patients to attend appointments. If you miss or cancel at short notice twice, the practice may remove you from the NHS register. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to allow us to offer the time to other patients.
The NHS provides all treatments necessary to maintain oral health (e.g., fillings, crowns, dentures). Purely cosmetic treatments, such as white fillings on back teeth or tooth whitening, are usually only available privately. Your dentist will explain all options so you can make an informed choice.
Childsmile is a national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland. We provide clinical tooth brushing demonstrations, dietary advice, and fluoride varnish applications at least twice a year to help prevent tooth decay in young patients.
Yes. It is vital for patient safety that we have an up-to-date medical history, including any medications you are taking. This ensures that any dental treatments or local anesthetics prescribed do not interact with your existing health conditions.
